Alexander from Germany – the lucky competition winner – wrote us a short diary of his trip to L.A.. Thanks for that Alexander! good to meet up…
December 9th We headed for the Troubadour around 6pm to meet up with Volbeat and se the concert afterwards. After some negotiating with the venue security (They didn’t listen to us at all) the tour manager Daniel showed up and settled everything. Daniel took us to the tour bus and we had pictures taken and had a talk with Anders, Jon, Thomas and Michael. It was fantastic and the band hung out with us for a long time – Thanks for that and thanks for the autographs – we’re really grateful!
When Danko Jones went on stage Volbeat wanted to see their show and we all left the bus and went into the Troubadour. After that Volbeat entered the stage and played a fantastic show for a rocking crowd! Great show! We went home to our hotel and had to sleep immediately after being awake for 35 hours.
December 10th We woke up way too early due to jet-lag and went for a walk on Hollywood Boulevard. We saw walk of fame and many other interesting sights. In the evening the Anaheim show was up. We took a cab in good time (4.45 pm) – we should be there at 7pm. The traffic was heavy and we arrived just before 7pm. The biggest indoor arena I’ve been to in Germany is the Color-Line-Arena (16.000 capacity) and the biggest stadium is Dortmunds’ Signal-Iduna-Park (82.000 capacity). The Honda arena seemed way bigger than the Color-Line-Arena, so we rushed to the nearest guest-list entrance. The staff was extremely cool and after Daniel helped us clearing the guest list we entered the arena just in time to see all 3 bands (Volbeat, Machine Head and Metallica) perform. Once again the show was fantastic! THANKS! Alexander
